Tsunami
Alright.. this is my first entry here...
Bangladesh miraculously was saved from the wrath of the Tsnami's. but, the other countries, Indonesia specially, what happened there is impossibly hard to believe. Now, looking at the death toll makes me scared. It rather reminds me of the cyclone of 1991 that hit Chittagong ( then I was there) and other coastal areas of Bangladesh: 138,000 people died in one night. But this tremblor, and the Tsunamis of 2004 were there for a few minues, subhanAllah, wiped out just as many!
I am rather upset at the relief effort by the American government. They are calling themselves generous because they pldeged to give $35 million only, where Bush's inauguration festivites is going to cost $45 million. I am not sure, everything is soooo frustrating. We are stingy, whether we like to be called singy or not. Here is a great NyTimes article: hope you'll read it:
Are we stingy: Yes.

The Tsunami showed God's power to His greates extend, and as always thousands of people suffer from it, due to the character of a natural disaster. Some people doubt on religion and God's existence after such blast, whilst we see the people who survived such a tragedy gain a stronger emaan than the had before.
The relief efforts of western nations is as generous as their so called "development aid" or "charity"....... a small token for which they expect great gratidude. Shamefull I read about that regurally. The west prefers to spent billions a day on military and other destructive institutions than they spent on constructive institutions. They just don't realise that a safer world is CONstructed, not DEstructed, thus they still claim it is necessary to maintain huge armies and develop smarter weapons as the so called enemy does the same.... I can't see any well developed enemy, besides Nature itself, and that even the west can't fight.
SubhanAllah you belonged to the survivors of the Chittagong Cyclone of 1991 (which as a matter of fact wasn't widely published in the Netherlands, but then South Asia is a blind spot for the Dutch, except for those who have been there!), thus we can enjoy your postings sister..... blessings upon you
